Greetings from the Mountain Wine Club!
This holiday season, we’re reaching into our cellars to select two very special library wines for you — 2010 La Jota Vineyard Co. Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon and 2014 Restricted Cabernet Franc from Diamond Mountain District.
La Jota’s cooler temperatures, wetter climate, iron-volcanic soils, and forests filled with conifers make Howell Mountain one of Napa’s most Bordeaux-like appellations and a place where Cabernet-based wines shine. The 2010 La Jota Cabernet Sauvignon is aging exceptionally well; it showcases anise and blackberry fruit with notes of pine and toast combined with great textural length and a lingering finish. It could age for another 10 years.
The Restricted Cabernet Franc is a joy for me to create, because it’s 100 percent Diamond Mountain District fruit — 90 percent Cabernet Franc and 10 percent Cabernet Sauvignon from the Wallis Vineyard. Aromatic, full-bodied, and lush, this is one of the purest expressions of Cabernet Franc in my entire repertoire, and it’s made exclusively for Mountain Wine Club members. This wine will easily last for 10 to 15 years, so you can enjoy it today or cherish and revisit it for a very long time to come.
It’s exciting to share these special wines with you, and I hope you enjoy them to the fullest with your friends and family.
Peace,
Chris Carpenter, Winemaker
