Edition 18 | April 2017

Greetings from the Mountain Wine Club!

Mountain winemaking has many challenges—rugged terrain, a variety of microclimates, and hand harvesting—but the quality of the fruit makes it all worthwhile. Mountain wines are rich in flavor, extremely well-structured, and built to age. With this shipment, we bring you the 2014 La Jota Howell Mountain Cabernet Franc and the 2014 Mt. Brave Mt. Veeder Malbec—two varieties that thrive at the high altitudes of our vineyards on Howell Mountain and Mt. Veeder.

Sourced from one of the oldest Cabernet Franc vineyards in Napa Valley, the 2014 La Jota Cabernet Franc is an impressive wine with a luxe mouthfeel, flavors of ripe pomegranate and dark raspberry, and a long finish. The well-integrated tannins and acidity make this wine ideal for cellaring.

The 2014 Mt. Brave Malbec comes from the most rugged winegrowing region in Napa Valley. On the nose, rose petal and rhubarb aromatics give way to flavors of huckleberry and mild coffee on the palate. This wine culminates in a juicy, long finish.
