Edition 17 | February 2017

Greetings from the Mountain Wine Club!

With the new year comes a new, expanded collection of bold mountain wines. For years the Mountain Wine Club has shined a light on rugged winegrowing and mountain winemaking. This year Winemaker Chris Carpenter has decided to expand the offering with Restricted—a collection of small-batch wines exclusively for the Mountain Wine Club from Spring Mountain District and Diamond Mountain District. We will also share new Mt. Brave wines with you, including Zinfandel in this shipment and Syrah in the coming months.

In your February shipment we are excited to present two exceptional wines that showcase the very best of Spring Mountain District and Mt. Veeder—an outstanding Cabernet Franc from Spring Mountain and a luscious Zinfandel from Mt. Veeder.

Located at nearly 1,600 feet in elevation, the Yverdon Vineyard is primarily composed of volcanic soils and gravelly loam with high drainage. The elevation and soil makeup impart the tremendous dark red fruit flavors and dusty chocolate finish that make the 2012 Restricted Yverdon Vineyard Cabernet Franc so exceptional.

The 2014 Mt. Brave Mt. Veeder Zinfandel comes from the most rugged winegrowing region in Napa Valley, due to the high elevation coupled with steep slopes. This wine is opulent in mouthfeel with beautiful dark and red fruit flavors. The balanced minerality and tremendous structure make this Zinfandel ideal for cellaring.
